Big G Says…
The Mizuno Sky 2 is a top-end neutral shoe with an emphasis on a slightly firmer energy return rather than maximising softness. The responsive cushioning returns as much energy back as you put into it-ideal for the larger heavier runner.
The midsole comprises two different high quality cushioning materials (U4ic) with the famous Wave Plate sandwiched between. This Pebac plate has an elastic property, resuming its original shape and returning energy after every stride.
The wave frequency on the medial (inside) and lateral (outside) is different, being extended on the inside for support to right under the first metatarsal toe-joint to stabilise toe-off.
The AeroHug integrated lacing system plus a monomesh upper material creates a non stretch combination that hugs the foot without any bulk. The out-sole is highly durable in the rearfoot (Carbon Rubber X10) and in the forefoot where the blown rubber is more durable than most.
So if you have a heavier foot plant then the firmer mid-sole and the durability of the wave will provide an excellent alternative to the less stable more cushioned shoes from alternative brands.
