New Balance Prism Men
Big G Says…
The N.B. Prism is the latest addition to the small but growing family of lightweight stability shoes of which the Asics DS Trainer has been the most successful over a long period of time. The feel of such shoes is somewhere between a daily trainer and a tempo shoe. SPEED+CUSHIONING+STABILITY - a rare combination.
The cosmetics give it a sleek racing look, but the secret to its success lies in the FUEL CELL midsole. N.B. have created a performance type midsole cushioning material that achieves a high energy rebound quality. FUEL CELL densities vary from model to model (same with FreshFoam). The Prism is neither too soft nor too firm, providing adequate cushioning and an energetic toe-off.
The mild stability in the rear foot is achieved by the insertion of a small medial pillar - significant enough to reduce any rearfoot speed wobble but is not invasive and blends unobtrusively when running at pace. As befits a lighter shoe, the upper is a seamless single layer of engineered mesh - breathable and comfortable. The fit is secure in the midfoot but has generous toe space in the forefoot. The lightly structured heel counter gives a secure fit without adding bulk. The 6mm heel-to-toe drop and lower than average stack height affords a good connection with the road.
In conclusion, the N.B.Prismis light, responsive and flexible with a touch of stability - indeed a rare combination - but a winning formula.
