Hoka Bondi 7 Men
Big G Says…
This is Hoka's flagship model. Running in the maximally cushioned Bondi 7 ls like running on clouds - soft, smooth and almost effortless.
I make no apology for the 'copy and paste' from last year's review of the Bondi 5. The reason is the mid-sole and out-sole of the 7 remain the same as that of the 6, except for a slight reduction of the stack heights (less 3mm for men and less 5 mm for ladies). The only up-grades are in the upper. The new engineered mesh enhances the fit, has improved the breathability and increased the support around the ankle. The new memory foam collar helps secure the heel and supports the achilles with soft and comfortable padding.
The 2 layer foam mid-sole is cushy and forgiving but not mushy like some maximalist shoes. It has one of the highest cushion-to-weight ratios of any shoes on the market.
This shoe is remarkably stable for a neutral shoe with such a high stack height thanks to its wide base and the way the foot is cradled in the midsole material. The concave rocker design promotes a reliable rolling sensation as the foot transitions from forefoot strike to the toe-off. The seemingly effortless ride reduces the impact forces that occur as the foot hits the ground.
A really good option for daily low intensive training, long slow distance runs or recovery sessions.
