Big G Says…
Not all trail runners want to tackle Skye Run or Rhodes. Those who do would probably opt for the Hoka Speedgoat. Those who enjoy less technical trails would do well to consider the Hoka Torrent 2 - perfect for shorter and easier trails.
Hoka shoes are usually associated with high bulky mid-soles and max-cushioning - but not this one. The Torrent 2 is lightweight, supportive and well cushioned without the bulk. The up-grade to the Torrent 1 is mainly in the outsole. The lugs are slightly more aggressive for enhanced grip on all surfaces. The Pro-Fly midsole has softer material in the heel with firmer cushioning in the forefoot. While there is no rock protection plate, the shoe has enough cushioning for all but the most testing of underfoot conditions. The toe box has sufficient toe splay space.
So as an option for shorter and easier trails, this model is a must try, The combination of lightweight cushioning with great grip provide a sensation of speed and protection. A worthy up- date to an already very good shoe.
