Asics GT 2000.8 Ladies
Big G Says…
One of the Asics legacy models, the GT2000 series of shoes have been a reliable and durable range for high mileage training for many years. Its blend of cushioning and support has been a winning formula. The v8 sees quite a few changes from the v7. Asics have tweaked the density of the Flytefoam in the midsole. lt is now softer with more energy return. The weight is virtually the same but feels lighter on the foot because the deeper flex grooves improve flexibility. The upper is more pliable and breathable and the heel counter really holds the rear foot firmly in place.
The stability provided by the dynamic Duomax is subtle but noticeable compared to say the neutral Asics Cumulus 21. However it is definitely at the moderate support end of the stability scale... hardly feels like a stability shoe.
Just like neutral shoes have different degrees of cushioning, stability shoes have different levels of support and generally firmer cushioning. The good rear-foot cushioning in the GT 2000.8 facilitates an easy transition from a neutral shoe to mild stability if required.
So a GT2000 today has very similar characteristics to the GT2000 of 25 years ago when we started The Randburg Runner. Thankfully, the latest model is a lot more dynamic. It has been completely overhauled with up-graded uppers, midsole materials and outsole design ... but it still remains a GT2000 which will be very comfortable and perform as well as normal.
