Asics DS Trainer 25 Ladies
Big G Says…
The 25th version of this classic is virtually identical to the 24th and that's great. This is an old school type of shoe - made for running hard and fast. If there was a category especially for this shoe, it would be 'lightweight stable performance'. In times gone by, the DS Trainer was the go-to-shoe that Marathon and Comrades runners relied on as their 2nd shoe for time trials, speedwork, and racing. The qualities that made it popular then remain unchanged today.
The FlyteFoam Lyte midsole allows a great feel of the road while giving sufficient cushioning protection. It is lightweight and responsive with a mild medial post for stability. The midsole incorporates a propulsion trusstic to enhance ease of toe-off. The only change is to the knitted upper which is now slightly thinner and more flexible for improved fit and breathability. The outsole combo of Duo-sole in the forefoot for amazing traction on wet roads and thin but durable AHAR rubber in the heel area gives the best of both worlds.
It may take a few runs to break in, but if you are serious about improving your gait speed to reduce these PB's, then this is an addition to your running shoe collection that you should definitely consider. There are lighter shoes out there, and there are more cushioned shoes out there - but a better combination of the features that the DS Trainer possesses will be hard to find.
