Big G Says…
Brooks has streamlined the upper improving the fit and flexibility and enhancing the responsiveness and traction of the midsole and outsole. Previously designed as a really stable rugged trail shoe (excellent also for hiking), this lightest ever Cascadia is certainly faster. The upper has lost many of its supportive overlays and looks and fits more like a road shoe. The flexible element mesh of the upper creates a comfortable wider forefoot while the internal saddle support, the Cordura mudguard and toe protector add stability for the foot. The midsole still uses Brooks BioMogo DNA cushioning. lt seems softer and more responsive than previously, but it does retain the Ballistic Rock Shield in the forefoot however. The outsole has had a complete design makeover. The rubber used is called Trailtack - a durable sticky rubber compound and together with a new flatter stud profile will improve traction and grip on all surfaces. So while some of the features that have made the Cascadia so popular for many years have been retained, the modern Cascadia 14 is much changed and probably on balance for the better, satisfying the needs of a wider type of trail runner. |
