Altra Lone Peak 4 Men
Big G Says…
Thankfully, the latest version of the Lone Peak has received only small amendments, retaining the essence of the features that have made this shoe a legend in ultra trail running. The lacing system and the heel counter have been redesigned to improve lockdown even on the steepest terrain and the ripstop mesh upper materials are even more durable than in previous models. The 25mm stack height of the midsole cushioning (zero drop of course) remains unchanged and still incorporates a TPU StoneGuard which protects against rock pressure but is grooved to retain the good forefoot flexibility. The aggressive angled lugs of Maxtrac sticky rubber provide a secure foot plant on slippery rocks and muddy surfaces alike ensuring a reliable toe-off.
So if a very generous toe box to allow your toes to splay naturally and a zero heel to toe drop to naturally align your feet appeals to you, this trail shoe could be your best option for the longer distances.
